Think outside the box

When you’re embedding a video into a PowerPoint Presentation, don’t think you’re stuck with a rectangular format. Here’s something I thought was worth sharing. Recently a client asked me to create a presentation resembling their website design in which all of the images were circles. But they also wanted something a little less static. Here’s what I did. First I inserted the short video clip into my PowerPoint. Easy enough. Then I rummaged through something called the shapes panel and found what’s looks like a donut shape, which is basically like a round frame.  By drawing that shape on top of my movie clip, I was able to hide the four corners of the image. Since the slide background was white, and the donut was white, all that was visible when I ran the ppt was a round movie, which is just what I wanted. So you can see the video running inside a circle, it is pretty sweet.
