When you are delivering a PowerPoint to your audience and the subject matter gets somewhat technical, there is nothing like a clear infographic to break down the various pieces of the puzzle, or simplify a step by step process. This was the case for Butler Farms, a hog farm in Harnett County, North Carolina, that had invested in a piece of equipment called an anaerobic digester which uses naturally occurring microorganisms to break down organic materials (manure) and produce biogas, a mixture of carbon dioxide and methane. Biogas energy can then be used to generate power. The bottom line is a reduction in heating as well as electricity costs. Also the electricity generated can then be sold, providing an additional source of revenue for the farmers. Butler Farms needed to spread the word to other farmers so they would be persuaded to adopt similar green energy practices. The illustration below did a good job of demystifying the process of Anaerobic Digestion so that the audience could focus on the overall message, rather than getting bogged down with technical terminology.
